Appearance: Vacation (2015 Movie)
Based in: Chicago Midway International Airport, Chicago, Illinois, United States of America (possibly)

Econo Air is a fictional American low-cost regional airline, seen in Vacation. Econo Air was shown to have connections with Global Airlines higher-ups, possibly, Econo is on good terms with the airline. The airline is based off of real world airlines, like EasyJet and United Airlines.

Reputation[]

According to Econo Air Pilot Captain Rusty Grizwold, the airline once had a good reputation, before loosing trust of it's customers, possibly due to safety violations. An example being: not retiring old pilots and hiring people that are barely capable of flying an airplane, like Co-Pilot First Officer Harry, who has Dementia and was supposed to be retired. Loosing passengers' baggage, may also be a reason.

Flight ?[]

Departure: South Bend International Airport, South Bend, Indiana
Destination: Chicago Midway International Airport, Chicago, Illinois
Flight Length: 18 Minutes (cruising)

Econo Air Flight ? was a routine flight from South Bend to Chicago. The flight was going as regular, before te controls were passed on to Co-Pilot First Officer Harry, so that Captain Rusty Grizwold could go to the bathroom. Because First Officer Harry has Dementia, he unknowingly took the plane up to 60,000 Feet, way above the cruising altitude and encountered severe turbulence, once Captain Rusty Grizwold returned to the cockpit, the airplane was leveled and successfully landed in Chicago Midway, off screen.

Events in Vacation[]

It was planned, that after the road trip to San Francisco, the family would return home via airplane to Chicago with Global Airlines, but the kids flew back to Chicago alone, while Rusty and his wife flew to Paris, France, possibly on a Global Airlines flight, witch Rusty managed to get two seats on with his employment at Econo Air, which has connections with Global Airlines.

Fleet[]

The only seen aircraft, operated by Econo Air is a Boeing 777-200, (and NOT a Boeing 767 as erroneously captined in the screenshot below), although, according to Pilot Captain Rusty Grizwold, the airline, also operates an Airbus A318 fleet.
